New York Fashion Week runs every February and September, and Jet Charter NYC arranges flights for the designers, buyers, editors, models and guests who travel in for it. We also arrange flights for New York teams heading on to the shows abroad.
Flying in for Fashion Week
Show dates are fixed well ahead, but the days themselves keep changing. Fittings run late, a dinner gets added, and someone has to be in another city the next morning. With a charter, the departure time is set around your team’s schedule, subject to aircraft availability.
For anyone staying in Manhattan, Teterboro is usually the closest business-aviation airport, about eight miles from Midtown in New Jersey. Guests coming from Westchester or Connecticut may find Westchester County Airport in White Plains easier.
The Met Gala in early May
The Met Gala brings another round of fashion travel into New York each spring, and many guests fly in for a single night. If you are planning to arrive the day before and leave the morning after, please give us your dates as soon as the invitation is confirmed, so your advisor has the widest choice of aircraft.
Shows in London, Milan and Paris
Some New York teams go on to the European shows after their own week. Your advisor will quote aircraft with the range for the crossing and tell you where a fuel stop may be needed. Landing permits are applied for after the trip is booked and paid. On the way home, Teterboro and Westchester County Airport can both clear a flight arriving from abroad.
Collections and wardrobe
Garment rails, trunks and sample boxes take up much more room than the passenger count suggests. When you send us your dates, tell us how many pieces are traveling and how they are packed. Your advisor will choose the aircraft for the luggage as well as the seats. If the collection is shipping on its own schedule, an air cargo charter can carry it separately from the team.
Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
New York-Specific Patterns We Plan Around
New York has more airports to choose from than almost any other city, and the right one depends on where you are starting from on the ground. Teterboro, about eight miles from Midtown, is usually the closest to Manhattan and has a 100,000 lb operating-weight limit, Westchester County Airport in White Plains suits Westchester and Greenwich, and Republic and MacArthur serve Long Island. LaGuardia, JFK and Newark take private flights too, but each needs a reservation or approval under an FAA order, so we usually start elsewhere. Several of these airports can clear a flight arriving from abroad. Air traffic control delays reach the business-aviation airports as well as the airline ones, and from roughly November through March, de-icing can add time to a departure.
