Jet Charter NYC arranges private flights for New York fans, hosts and corporate groups heading to games, races and tournaments, at home or overseas. We also fly visitors in for the big sporting events held in and around the city each year.
Flying in for New York’s big events
The local calendar brings a steady flow of visitors. The US Open tennis runs from late August into September, the Belmont Stakes is held each June and returns to Belmont Park on Long Island from 2027, and the NYC Marathon fills the city in November. If you are flying in, tell us where you are staying and where the event is held, and your advisor will suggest the airport that makes the most sense for that trip.
Following your team to away games
Other trips go the other way, with a group from Manhattan, Westchester or North Jersey heading to a playoff game, a championship or a race weekend in another city. A charter leaves on your schedule, so you can fly out on the day of the game and come home that same night once it is over. For a small party, a light or midsize jet usually covers it, and we will quote a single aircraft for everyone traveling on your dates.
Hosting clients and larger groups
Companies often use a big game to entertain clients or reward their staff, and the aircraft changes as the guest list grows. Part 135 is the FAA’s set of rules for on-demand, for-hire charter, and most private jet trips run under it. Once the group runs past nineteen passengers, the trip calls for an airliner-size aircraft and no longer falls under FAR Part 135. Those flights operate under FAR Part 121 or a foreign equivalent, which generally carries stricter crew and operating requirements than both Part 91 and Part 135. Give us the headcount as early as you can.
Tournaments and races abroad
An event overseas needs landing permits and customs arrangements at the other end. Permits are applied for after the trip is booked and paid, and the local airport authority sometimes sets the timeline, so book early once the event date is fixed. Our long-range jets page shows the aircraft we arrange for longer international trips.
Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
New York-Specific Patterns We Plan Around
New York has more airports to choose from than almost any other city, and the right one depends on where you are starting from on the ground. Teterboro, about eight miles from Midtown, is usually the closest to Manhattan and has a 100,000 lb operating-weight limit, Westchester County Airport in White Plains suits Westchester and Greenwich, and Republic and MacArthur serve Long Island. LaGuardia, JFK and Newark take private flights too, but each needs a reservation or approval under an FAA order, so we usually start elsewhere. Several of these airports can clear a flight arriving from abroad. Air traffic control delays reach the business-aviation airports as well as the airline ones, and from roughly November through March, de-icing can add time to a departure.
