Jet Charter NYC arranges private flights for New York technology companies, from founders and investors to engineering teams and sales staff on their way to meet customers.
The trips tech teams take
A lot of this work comes in at short notice: a board meeting, a customer visit, a trade show, or a round of investor meetings in several cities over two days. Common trips include a short hop to Boston or Washington DC, a flight across the country to meet partners in Silicon Valley, and business travel to London and Europe. A charter lets a small team fit several meetings into one trip and fly home when the last one ends.
Keeping the trip confidential
Some trips should stay private until a deal is announced. Passenger names and trip details go only to the operator and the crew flying your trip. If only a few people at your company should know about it, tell us who your advisor should deal with, and we will keep all of our communication to those people.
Traveling with prototypes and equipment
Engineers often travel with prototypes, test gear or demo equipment. Send us the dimensions and weight before we quote. Smaller items can usually go in the baggage hold of a passenger aircraft, while larger or heavier loads may need a dedicated cargo flight. Finding that out before the quote saves a second round of planning.
Choosing the right aircraft
For a short hop to Boston or Washington DC, a light jet usually does the job. Flights across the country or over the Atlantic call for a larger cabin and more range. Your advisor will look at the passenger count, the bags and the routing, then send you a short list of aircraft. If the hardware is traveling on its own, our air cargo page covers dedicated freight flights.
Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
New York-Specific Patterns We Plan Around
New York has more airports to choose from than almost any other city, and the right one depends on where you are starting from on the ground. Teterboro, about eight miles from Midtown, is usually the closest to Manhattan and has a 100,000 lb operating-weight limit, Westchester County Airport in White Plains suits Westchester and Greenwich, and Republic and MacArthur serve Long Island. LaGuardia, JFK and Newark take private flights too, but each needs a reservation or approval under an FAA order, so we usually start elsewhere. Several of these airports can clear a flight arriving from abroad. Air traffic control delays reach the business-aviation airports as well as the airline ones, and from roughly November through March, de-icing can add time to a departure.
